The Supreme Council of Scottish Rite Freemasonry is seeking a team of energetic, creative, self–motivated students to serve as interns (public ambassadors) for museum tours and special events at its national headquarters in Washington, D.C. The interns’ position requires strong interpersonal proficiency and skills in team–based settings, a good work ethic, leadership skills and capacity for conveying a positive, professional and courteous image to the public about the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

Required skills include: Effective and tactful oral and written communication skills with a diverse public; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and/or individuals; ability to adapt and maintain flexibility under a variety of circumstances (tours, special events, etc.); present an upbeat attitude and work with minimum supervision; ability to perform multiple tasks; will serve as liaison to internal and external constituencies who are attending and/or hosting events; willing to show guests and visitors our small gift shop and conclude museum tours with possible gift shop sales; flexibility to work various shifts during the regular tour hours according to class schedule.

Regular tour hours: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. On Saturdays we are often open for private tours, special events and open houses, but the times vary. Work hours will be determined based on semester course schedule. Position will occasionally require weekend or evening hours for special events (notified well in advance). Students will normally work between 10 and 35 hours per week.

Internships are open to both undergraduate and graduate students. There is no deadline for submitting an intern application, however, internships are highly competitive. Prospective interns are required to submit a resume or curriculum vitae and a one-page cover letter that lets us know what sets you apart from other applicants.
