INFORMATION CONCERNING
SCOTTISH RITE ENDOWMENT
GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP
AND UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
FOR STUDY EXCLUSIVELY AT GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY
*Requires
Masonic Background*
The Supreme Council
also sponsors scholarships for graduate or undergraduate study at
the
George Washington University (GWU), Washington, DC, for students who
have a relationship with the Scottish Rite. Either the applicant
or
applicant's grandfather, father, brother, or uncle must be
or have been a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. The applicant
must also have achieved academic excellence in high school grades and
on national standardized tests. These scholarships are available
to
undergraduates enrolled in any school or department of the university
for 50% of tuition which presently equates to about $13,000
each or $52,000 over four years. While we sponsor the scholarships,
we do not directly handle them. Thus when
a student
applies for admission at GWU, he should include a letter expressing
interest in this scholarship. Another means is to list it on the GWU
financial aid form. The point of contact for this program is the Office
of Assistant Director of Admissions, Telephone No: 1-800-447-3765.
In the case of
graduate work, fellowships of up to $10,000 toward tuition, established
through income from a Scottish Rite endowment given to the George Washington
University are awarded annually to full-time graduate students in the
School of Business and Public Management, the Elliott School of International
Affairs, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Graduate
School of Education and Human Development, Columbian School of Arts
and Sciences, or School of Medicine and Health Sciences at the George
Washington University. The contact person for the graduate program is
Ms. Geri Rypkema, Director, Office of Fellowships and Graduate Student
Support, Telephone No: 1-202-994-6829.
