
INFORMATION CONCERNING
THE
SHEPHERD SCHOLARSHIP
Masonic
background not required, but this program is available to United States
citizens only for study at schools within the U.S.
Shepherd Scholarships
of $1,500 per year towards tuition costs, for a maximum of four years
or upon earning a degree if that be sooner, are offered by the Supreme
Council each year to United States citizens only, studying in accredited
schools in the United States. The number of scholarships awarded is
dependent upon the earnings of the Shepherd Scholarship Fund. The objective
of this scholarship is to aid worthy candidates in obtaining baccalaureate
or graduate degrees in fields associated with service to country and
generally perceived as benefiting the human race.
Selections will
be made each year during the month of April. Selectees will be those
who are best qualified by dedication, ambition, academic preparation,
financial need, and promise of outstanding performance at the advanced
level. Final selections and appointments will be at the sole discretion
and determination of the Sovereign Grand Commander of the Supreme Council.
It will be helpful
if each candidate has shown sincere interest in and taken an active
part in social, civic, religious, and fraternal activities of the
community.
Before any payments are made, applicants must be accepted for enrollment
at accredited institutions of higher learning that are authorized
to
grant degrees in the selected fields of study.
Applications
must be received each year by the Director of Education, the Supreme
Council, 33°, 1733 Sixteenth Street, NW, Washington,
DC 20009-3103, on or before APRIL 1.
